Bring Me The Horizon/Meshuggah
First band on my ‘must shoot’ list at Leeds was BMTH, but they were a no show. It’s 2nd time lucky on Sunday at the Academy…
Uploaded: Meshuggah pics from Manchester Academy 3 last month. Lookee here.

Rock Sound issue 114 hits the shelves tomorrow (Wednesday 10th September). Full coverage of Leeds and Reading festivals, including a heap of my stuff from Leeds, including Metallica, Taking Back Sunday, Tenacious D, The Racounteurs, Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly and Alexisonfire will be in glorious technicolour for your reading pleasure.

Meanwhile, I’ll be at Meshuggah at the Academy 3 tonight. It’s going to hurt, I can feel it…see you down the front. Or maybe in casualty.
Sunday morning…last day. Brandon Flowers has a double chin and so The Killers won’t allow photographers into the pit. Therefore, I will make it my mission to get something that makes him look fat.
16:33. Dirty Pretty Things are on stage. They’ve swapped with Editors who are now off over the pennines to Old Trafford to support REM later. Meantime, I’ve caught the Automatic who were second on the Main Stage:

Following on from that, I had pretty much the whole afternoon to do my own thing, so I wandered over to the Radio 1/NME stage to see Santogold as her ‘Lights Out’ single has been on heavy rotation in my own head:

On the way back, I stopped off at the Festival Republic stage, where Twisted Wheel were about to come on. Manchester crowds have been nothing short of mental, but I expected things to be a little watered down with the high stage, distance from the crowd and the resulting lack of interaction. They went down well, though as this crowd shot shows:

1:19am and I’m back in Manchester. The Killers didn’t allow any photographers into the pit, but the massive amounts of compressed gas and explosives front of stage may have had something to do with it (though my money is stillon ol’ fat chin being too self-conscious). Nevermind that though - We Are Scientists were knocking about in the VIP prior to their Main stage set:

Next up were The Raconteurs. Jack White is looking more like Michael Jackson every time I see them:

Last of the must shoots for me were Bloc Party, who kicked things off with new single ‘Mercury’, which was awash with live loops of Kele’s vocal. I wondered how they would do that one live. Pas de probleme…

Finally, I legged it over to the Radio 1/NME stage for the Manics. Dodgy lighting, but great songs:

So that wraps things up. Keep your eyes on Flickr for more images in the next day or two.
I’m kind of attempting to live blog what I’m doing. But not in a very timely manner…this isTenacious D. Marmite, if you know what I mean, but they made me laugh. The theme was ‘Wizard Kings’, with a touch of ‘Lizard Kings’. So there we have it.

James Hetfield from Metallica’s headline set last night on the Main Stage. Amazing lighting. Amazing sound. Shit pyrotechnics:

13:56. Saturday afternoon. I’m refreshed after a glorious scrambled egg and smoked salmon bagel breakfast at Betty’s Tea Shop in Harrogate and now back on site. 2nd on the Main stage today was Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, who went down very well, with his/their(?) brand of electro tinged acoustic melodies. A nice start to the afternoon:

15:44. Serge Tankian is on stage now after a wicked set by Dizzee Rascal (for whom the pit went wild) and went off-piste with the addition of an opera singer from Wolverhampton. As you do. Cool…

8:22pm. I’ve had some beer, some cider and some pizza.

I’ve also been meeting people here and there that are also on site for the weekend. In between though, I’ve seen Ida Maria (who likes me so much better when I’m naked):

MGMT:

and Queens of the Stone Age:

Rage Against The Machine finish up the night…I’m almost happy with this shot of Tom Morello getting some air off the monitor:

That’s that for Saturday. More tomorrow, in a post that I have already decided will be named ‘Blog Party’…

The next batch of shots from T in the Park 2008 are now on Flickr.
Just been sent this - one of my Chems photos on the Radio 1 front page:

…and found this:

Nice. 1 Million hits a day apparently.
Well, I’m back and on the final edit, hopefully in time for posting before I head to Latitude tomorrow (sans camera). As a taster of what is to come, you can feast your eyes on this shot of Michael Stipe from REM’s headline set on Sunday night:
Keep your eyes on the BBC online - T in the Park site for updated galleries, reviews and forum posts. It looks like this:
All being well, I’ll have a look at putting a photobook together, so if anyone is interested, let me know…
I’ll be shooting at T In The Park this year. 15 days and counting…
